Liqui was tasked with creating a new bubble tea shop design and brand identity for a California café based in Palm Springs. Previously part of a franchise, the café owner had decided to start their own bubble tea business with a new tea room interior and fresh bubble tea brand. Liqui undertook the design of the boba shop interior while working closely with our creative agency, Crate47, who developed the branding.
The main feature of the bubble tea shop design is a spacious front-of-house area with minimal seating. Having a high school close by, the client is mainly aiming for a fairly young demographic. This meant that the large open space of the bubble tea café could be used by standing customers to socialize and also allow for others placing takeaway orders. For those wishing to sit, the boba tea store design has a comfortable seating area at the front with a Hove Club sofa and armchairs. There is also a long wooden bench against the sidewall.
With the mainly young customer base in mind, a fairly colorful palette has been used for the tea room interior. But, so that it also appeals to a wider clientele, our choice of hues has been thoughtfully selected along with our range of materials. This means that the overall look of the tea shop remains fairly restrained. Based around semi-circles, blocks of solid color decorate the extensive walls. The curved shapes are echoed throughout the bubble tea shop design in other features. These include the color-flecked terrazzo flooring, the built-in bench seating, and the rounded front counter.
