LIQUI OFFICE DESIGN
SHIPYARD OFFICE
THE PROJECT

Liqui approached the Shipyard office design with ‘wellness in the workplace’ at the forefront of our thinking. We developed an office interior that provides a variety of work settings within the large space. These help to promote greater movement and create a less sedentary working environment while encouraging the cross-pollination of ideas. The modern office design includes groups of desks that form collective hubs for the many different teams working throughout the company. In addition there are enclosed spaces for formal meetings; breakout areas designed for informal catch-ups; smaller private spaces for concentration and even quiet places where staff can relax with a coffee.

Our office design is built around a central gangway that leads through the building to the research and development lab which we’ve linked with a glass wall creating a more integrated workspace design. In the void above the gangway hangs a large installation made of acoustic paneling to help with noise reduction. This takes the form of a ship’s superstructure reflecting the building’s naval history. Glass is also used in various areas to divide the expansive office interior and make the best use of natural light. This allows greenery, such as hanging plants and small trees to also play an important role in creating a work environment that improves overall well-being. Not only do people enjoy the overall look of nature, but increased oxygen levels can improve concentration and lessen mental fatigue.

By combining the various elements mentioned above we feel we’ve created an office design that promotes ‘wellness in the workplace’ and above all is a place where people will enjoy working. This, in turn, will help with staff retention and productivity for the company.
