LIQUI RESTAURANT DESIGN
CHIMNEY CAKE BAKERS - LONDON
A QUIRKY RESTAURANT WITH A STRONG BRAND IDENTITY

Set in the heart of North London, Chimney Cake Bakers restaurant design marked the first collaborative project between Liqui and our sister company Crate47. While we attended to all aspects of the interior design and fit-out; Crate47 created the branding and graphics which included designing decorative motifs and patterns that were used by us throughout the interior as well as on the website built by Crate47.

The designs took the chimney cake’s Eastern European roots as a starting point. Liqui’s restaurant interior design combines hand decorated reclaimed wood panelling with stripped back painted brick walls to produce a warm, bohemian, but strongly branded environment. Our bespoke furniture makers created distinctive stools and tables designed to complement the simplicity of the space. And Liqui’s build team project managed the complete fit-out of the restaurant interior. Liqui and Crate47’s dual but holistic approach to this project worked seamlessly to create a considered designer restaurant with a strong and relevant brand identity.

BESPOKE TABLES AND SEATING

The furniture for the restaurant had to reflect the brand identity created by Crate47. To achieve this Liqui set about designing a range of tables and seating from scratch. The range created has been dubbed the ‘Pint’ Collection in reference to its milking stool origins, hence the sizes: Quarter Pint, Half Pint and Pint. The stools have quirky flared beech legs and have been upholstered with a circular version of the gypsy style brand graphic tying it in with the overall theme of the restaurant design.

BRANDING AND SIGNAGE

Working alongside Liqui our sister company Crate47 managed the branding and graphic design work for the project. This included signage, logo, illustrations stationary and website.

Conscious that the brand was to be used as a franchise model, Crate47 designed a logo that was bold and instantly recognisable. This was complimented with a floral gypsy pattern (a homage to the Chimney Cakes Eastern European roots) to help soften the whole brand identity. This was then rolled out through all media including the website, menus, signage, furniture and interior.
